June 9, Greater New York – Statue of Liberty Chapter’s Army Birthday get together was again held aboard the Superintendent’s Yacht at West Point. The weather was uncertain, but we beat the rain. The food was fine and the congeniality was delightful. In attendance were members of the Statue of Liberty Chapter, AUSA; the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division Association; Liberty Chapter, Signal Corps Regimental Association and other old and new friends.
Dr. Steve Grove, retired West Point Historian, kept the cruise moving with his enlightening historical facts and anecdotes. He allowed for audience participation and some of us amateur historians added to the program. We even experienced a helicopter flyover.
