As World War II raged, Yonkers women took a first-time opportunity to become soldiers for their country — enlisting in the Women’s Army Corps, the WAC.

The Hudson River Museum joined forces with an artist and an Army officer to capture their likenesses on canvas.

See their portraits and 12 photographs of Westchester women soldiers, who serve their country today.
